The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the “greatest threat” to democracy in Nigeria.

Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, made the statement during an interview on Friday.

He said, “APC today represents the greatest threat to Nigerian democracy. Recently, some people joined and started challenging this or that.

“They are asking INEC to deregister ADC on strange grounds. But we know where this is coming from. We know the people involved and who they work for.

“The APC has done everything to weaken opposition parties, including PDP, Labour Party, SDP, ADC, and others.

“If we are not careful and don’t build a strong alternative political platform, Nigeria is moving towards a one-party state, and that is exactly what this government is trying to do.”
