The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to deilize the political atmosphere in the state by allegedly planning an unauthorized parallel primary to challenge Governor Ademola Adeleke’s emergence as the party’s 2026 governorship candidate.
In a statement issued by Accord Party’s Osun State Chairman, Victor Akande, the party claimed that the APC is sponsoring internal confusion by backing a card-carrying APC member to pose as an Accord aspirant. Akande described the move as a deliberate attempt to sow “seeds of disunity, confusion and chaos in the state in the name of our party.”
He argued that the APC’s alleged interference stems from its inability to counter the growing popularity and political momentum Adeleke has gained since joining the Accord Party. Adeleke formally declared for the party earlier this week and secured its governorship ticket shortly after.
Akande dismissed internal objections raised by a faction of the Accord Party, which had questioned the legitimacy of the national leadership under Barrister Maxwell Ngbudem. He insisted that the processes leading to Adeleke’s candidacy were valid and recognized by the party’s national structure.
“We are a law-abiding, democratic, and peace-loving political party. This is to state that only the processes that are recognised by the appropriate national leadership of the party are valid. As such, any primary or aspirant who is outside of this is invalid, null, and void,” Akande stated.
He called on security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and other relevant authorities to take note of what he described as a plot to disrupt public peace.
“Osun State has moved on,” he concluded, affirming the party’s commitment to a peaceful and orderly political process.
I dont trust any political party these days. Theyre all playing games. Adeleke needs to watch his back.
Is APC really trying to undermine Adelekes candidacy? Seems like dirty politics at play again. What are your thoughts?
I dont buy it! Why would APC risk another primary just to undermine Adeleke? Sounds like a stretch to me.
I agree, its shady how APC keeps trying to undermine Adeleke. Lets hope justice prevails in the end.
I believe its important to investigate these allegations thoroughly before jumping to conclusions. Lets not rush to judgment.
I find it hard to believe that APC would resort to such tactics. Lets wait and see how this unfolds.
I think its shady how the APC is being accused of planning another primary. Can they be trusted? 🤔
I think its ridiculous for Accord Party to make such accusations without concrete evidence. Lets focus on facts, not baseless claims.
