Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has urged ministers of the gospel to prepare Christians to serve and uphold Christian values in public service at all levels of government.

The governor made this call at the Aguiyi Ironsi Conference Centre in Umuahia during an Apostolic Banquet organized by Christian Citizenship International, Diaspora Alliance, in partnership with the Abia State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Matters.

The event’s theme was “Reclaiming Apostolic Leadership for National Transformation.”

Governor Otti, represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, said having Christians in leadership positions offers chances for positive influence and effective evangelism, noting that leaders naturally earn public respect.

He encouraged church leaders to raise a generation that will keep Christian values alive in governance beyond the current time, stressing that this effort should continue beyond the present participants.

He expressed hope that the initiative would expand beyond Abia State to the whole of Nigeria and beyond.

The governor also promised his administration’s support and announced that the banquet will now be held every three months.

“We want to let you know that we are partnering as a government with this.

“It should not end here. That is why the government is giving every support to this initiative,” he said.

In his speech, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Matters, Apostle Kenneth Wiper, described the banquet as a high-level meeting of faith leaders, public officials, and community influencers dedicated to moral leadership and civic responsibility.

He said the event aimed to connect spiritual leadership with practical governance to encourage national renewal, and praised the Christian leadership shown in Abia State under Governor Otti.
