Borno State Police Re-Arrest Convict Who Escaped During Maiduguri Flooding

The Borno State Police Command has successfully re- Kyari Kur, also known as Henry, a 28-year-old convict who escaped from a correctional facility during recent flooding in Maiduguri, the state capital. The , which occurred in 2024, caused damage to the city and its surrounding areas, to the collapse of the correctional facility’s fence.

According to a statement released on Friday by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, Kyari Kur had been serving a jail term for criminal conspiracy and theft at the Medium Custodian Centre in Maiduguri. The statement detailed that the convict managed to escape when the facility’s perimeter was breached due to the severe flood.
