Joint Security Forces Rescue Six Kidnapped Sports Reporters in Anambra State

In a coordinated operation, the Joint Security Forces (JSF) successfully rescued six of eleven sports reporters who were kidnapped by gunmen in Anambra State the early hours of Thursday, October 10. The media crew, traveling from Lagos to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, had en route to the Super match scheduled for Friday when the abduction took place.

The incident occurred in Iseke, located in Ihiala Local Area, a region known for its control by secessionist groups. This area has seen increased security in recent , making it a -risk zone for travelers. The abduction of the journalists underscores the escalating threat posed by armed groups operating in the area.

The spokesperson for the Anambra State Police, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the rescue mission on Thursday. He stated that the operation was out with a high level of precision, ensuring the safe recovery of six of the kidnapped reporters. Tochukwu assured the that to locate the remaining journalists are still ongoing. He emphasized that the joint force, comprising police and other security agencies, is actively patrolling the area and working to secure the release of the remaining five individuals.

According to Tochukwu, the security forces are leaving no stone unturned in their of the kidnappers and are committed to ensuring the of all citizens in Anambra State. He also urged to vigilant and cooperate with authorities by providing any that could aid in the swift rescue of the remaining journalists.
