In a significant political development for Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara is set to swear in the elected local government chairmen today, Sunday, October 6, 2024. The ceremony will take place at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Harcourt, at 4:00 pm.

The statement reads: “ Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, the Governor of Rivers State, will today, Sunday, October 6, 2024, swear in the newly elected Council Chairmen at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, by 4:00 pm. The newly elected Chairmen, along with one (1) guest each, are to be seated by 3:30 pm.”

This comes after the Rivers State Electoral Commission (RSIEC) declared the winners of the local government elections, with the Action (APP) securing 22 out of the 23 LGAs.
