Governor Sim Fubara to Swear in Newly Elected Local Government Chairmen Today

The statement reads: “His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, the Governor of Rivers State, will today, Sunday, October 6, 2024, swear in the newly elected Council Chairmen at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, by 4:00 pm. The newly elected Chairmen, along with one (1) guest each, are expected to be seated by 3:30 pm.”

This comes after the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) declared the winners of the local government elections, with the Action Peoples Party (APP) securing 22 out of the 23 LGAs. The result reflects a dominant performance by the APP in the local elections, positioning the party to steer the administrative functions of most LGAs in the state.
