Israeli forces have intensified airstrikes on eastern Gaza City, particularly targeting the Shuja’iyya neighborhood, following threats of forced displacement. The attacks have resulted in significant casualties, including aid seekers. The situation remains tense, with ongoing discussions about a potential ceasefire.

On April 4, 2025, Israel initiated a ground offensive into the Shuja’iyya neighborhood of Gaza City, marking the third such invasion during the ongoing Gaza war. The offensive has led to numerous casualties, including at least 81 Palestinian civilians. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have reported the deaths of five soldiers and one police officer during the operation.

The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) has condemned the escalation, stating that the death toll since the resumption of military aggression on March 18, 2025, has reached 1,249, with over 3,000 injured. The PCHR has called for immediate international intervention to halt the violence and hold Israeli leaders accountable for alleged crimes against the Palestinian people.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported that, as of October 31, 2025, at least 8,525 Palestinians have been killed, including 3,542 children and 2,187 women, with approximately 21,543 injured since October 7, 2023. The OCHA has also noted that about 1,950 people, including at least 1,050 children, are reported missing and may be trapped or dead under the rubble.
