Kaduna Has Become Better Than I Met It in 2023, Says Governor Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has declared that the state has recorded significant improvements in security, infrastructure, education, and economic development since he assumed office in 2023.

He made the statement at a high level workshop organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations as part of the Nigeria Public Relations Week, Croc City 2026, held in Kaduna State.

Speaking to senior government officials, including commissioners, advisers, permanent secretaries, and councillors, the governor said Kaduna has moved from a state challenged by insecurity and weak infrastructure to one experiencing steady progress and renewed confidence.

He noted that his administration adopted a performance driven governance model anchored on Key Performance Indicators for ministries, departments, and agencies to ensure accountability and measurable results.

According to him, governance reforms were necessary because incremental ces were not sufficient to address the depth of challenges inherited in 2023.

Sani outlined seven strategic pillars guiding his administration, including security, infrastructure development, institutional strengthening, trade and investment, agriculture, human capital development, and citizen engagement.

He described security as the foundation of development, stating that without peace, no meaningful economic or social progress can take place.

The governor disclosed that his administration worked with the Office of the National Security Adviser and military authorities to elish new military bases in high risk areas such as Giwa, Birnin Gwari, and parts of Southern Kaduna.

He added that over 150 operational vehicles and 500 motorcycles were deployed to security agencies, while a Joint Task Force was created to reduce urban crime and banditry.

Sani further revealed that more than 20,000 hectares of farmland previously inaccessible due to insecurity have been reclaimed, allowing farmers to return to cultivation.

He also stated that over 1,000 displaced persons have been resettled, with continued support for more than 117,000 internally displaced persons across the state.

In education, the governor said his administration constructed hundreds of classrooms, renovated existing ones, and recruited 10,000 teachers while training over 33,000 education personnel.

He noted that the number of out of school children has significantly reduced, dropping from about 550,000 to 187,720 within two years.

On infrastructure, Sani disclosed that about 150 road projects covering over 1,300 kilometres are ongoing across all local government areas to improve connectivity and economic activity.

In agriculture, he said the state increased its investment from ₦1.48 billion in 2023 to over ₦74 billion in 2025, distributing fertiliser to farmers and enrolling over 100,000 smallholder farmers in insurance schemes.

He also highlighted the development of Special Agro Industrial Processing Zones aimed at boosting value addition and agribusiness.

On healthcare, the governor said 255 primary healthcare centres have been upgraded, alongside the elishment of 23 centres of excellence across local governments.

He further noted that Kaduna has attracted 23 investments valued at over 743 million dollars between 2023 and 2025, with additional investment prospects exceeding 3.5 billion dollars.

Sani said while challenges remain, progress has been made in restoring confidence, improving safety, and expanding economic opportunities across the state.
