Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has resumed training with long time rival Oleksandr Usyk as he prepares for a return to the ring that could lead to a blockbuster clash with Tyson Fury later this year.

Joshua and Usyk have been working together in a training camp in Valencia, marking a surprising partnership given their fierce rivalry. Usyk defeated Joshua in back to back title fights in 2021 and 2022, but the pair have now joined forces to sharpen their ss and push each other in preparation for upcoming bouts.

The 36 year old British boxer recently returned to Spain after attending Fury’s victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Reports suggest Joshua is being lined up for a potential “Battle of Britain” fight against Fury in November, possibly at Wembley Stadium, although he may first take on a warm up opponent.

Joshua’s comeback comes after a difficult period following a car accident in Nigeria last November that claimed the lives of two of his close friends. He is currently awaiting full medical clearance to resume intensive training in the coming weeks.

According to his promoter Ed Hearn, training alongside Usyk has had a positive impact on Joshua’s mindset and physical condition. Hearn described intense sessions where Usyk pushed Joshua to his limits, highlighting the unusual but beneficial dynamic between the two fighters.

Meanwhile, Joshua has also been closely studying Fury’s recent performance, recording and reviewing footage of the fight as part of his preparation strategy.

With momentum building, a potential showdown between Joshua and Fury is already generating excitement among boxing fans, with both fighters expected to bring peak intensity if the bout is confirmed.
