Veteran football manager Roy Hodgson has made a surprising return to the dugout, taking charge of Bristol City until the end of the season, more than four decades after his first stint with the club.

Hodgson, 78, replaces Gerhard Struber, who departed following a disappointing six match winless run that effectively ended the team’s hopes of securing a playoff spot for promotion to the Premier League. The club currently sits 16th in the EFL Championship standings, comfortably clear of relegation danger but far from promotion contention.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Hodgson said he was excited about the opportunity after positive discussions with the club’s leadership. His first game in charge will be against Sheffield United, as he looks to ilize the team and finish the season strongly.

Over the decades, he has managed several top clubs including Inter Milan, Blackburn Rovers, Fulham, Liverpool, and West Bromwich Albion. He also served as England national team manager from 2012 to 2016.

His return to Bristol City marks a remarkable full circle moment in a long and distinguished career, as the seasoned coach aims to guide the Robins through the final stretch of the season.
