Many of the world’s most impactful leaders began with humble beginnings, building their visions from the ground up through resilience, innovation, and integrity. One such figure is Okosubide Mozimo, Managing Director of Arco Worldwide Services, whose journey from a one man operation to leading a thriving organisation continues to inspire.

Mozimo started AWS as its sole employee, handling everything from strategy to execution. Today, he leads a team of over 100 professionals, demonstrating how vision and persistence can transform a small venture into a major player in the technology and security space.

Founded in 2016 as a subsidiary of ARCO Group Plc, AWS focuses on drone surveillance, monitoring, and data solutions across sectors such as oil and gas, agriculture, infrastructure, and security. The company aims to deliver innovative solutions while building local capacity and strengthening Africa’s technology ecosystem.

Mozimo’s leadership philosophy was shaped by real world challenges early in his career as an engineer. He emphasises that practical execution matters as much as strategy, especially in Africa where impactful solutions are urgently needed. His drive to bridge the gap between advanced technology and local application led to AWS’s expansion into unmanned aerial systems and training programs.

Over time, his role evolved from hands on execution to designing systems and strategies that drive growth. He now focuses on high level planning, partnerships, and expansion into West Africa, supported by a team of capable leaders.

Despite notable achievements, including securing partnerships with global drone manufacturers, Mozimo highlights challenges such as navigating regulatory frameworks and building a strong organisational culture. These experiences reinforced the importance of resilience, integrity, and safety as core values.

He continues to champion innovation, mentorship, and continuous learning, believing that Africa’s future depends on leaders who can think globally while acting locally.
