APC South East Zone Concludes Zonal Congress With New Executives By Consensus

The All Progressives Congress APC South East Zone has successfully concluded its zonal congress, resulting in an eight-member zonal executive emerging by consensus. The congress, held on Wednesday at the newly revamped Hotel Presidential Enugu, attracted party leaders, delegates, and faithful from the five states of the South East.

Governor of Ebonyi State Hon Francis Nwifuru moved for the dissolution of the previous zonal executive. The motion was seconded by Senator Patrick Ndubueze representing Imo North and unanimously adopted, paving the way for the election of a new executive. Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State announced that extensive discussions at Government House Enugu led to the adoption of the consensus mode of election in line with the APC constitution.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon Benjamin Kalu moved a three in one motion ratifying ward local government and state congress outcomes, adopting the consensus mode, and naming proposed officers. The motion was seconded by Enugu State House of Assembly Speaker Hon Uchenna Ugwu and unanimously approved.

Dr Ijeomah Arodiogbu was reelected Vice Chairman South East while Chief Innocent Azuoba became Zonal Secretary. Others elected include Barr Ernest Mayor Ogbonna as Legal Secretary, Hon Henry Onwuahaluonye as Publicity Secretary, Barr Chima Kenneth Ogbonna as Youth Leader, Dr Nwachukwu Stanley Chinedu as Leader of Persons with Disabilities, Dr Oby Ajih as Woman Leader, and Chief Arinze Ikedife as Organising Secretary.

Addressing the congress, Enugu State Governor Dr Peter Mbah emphasized the strength unity and determination of the South East APC to return President Bola Tinubu to office in 2027. He commended outgoing executives and charged the new leaders to consolidate party gains while maintaining unity ahead of the National Convention in Abuja.

The congress was attended by former Senate President Senator Ken Nnamani National Deputy Chairman Chief Emma Eneukwu as well as governors ministers and lawmakers from the zone.
