The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims of deep divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party, maintaining that the party remains a united entity despite concerns raised by some members.

Speaking on Wednesday after inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory, Wike rejected suggestions of factionalism, insisting that there are no separate camps within the party ahead of its planned convention.

According to him, disagreements among party members are a normal part of political engagement and should not be interpreted as evidence of structural division. He emphasized that while some individuals may be dissatisfied, their grievances do not amount to the existence of factions within the PDP.

Wike also addressed ongoing reconciliation efforts, noting that attempts to resolve differences have largely been at the individual level rather than formal negotiations between opposing groups. He reiterated that the PDP remains one cohesive body, dismissing claims of internal camps as unfounded.

On the party’s upcoming convention, the minister affirmed that preparations are on track and will proceed as scheduled. He pointed out that timelines set by the Electoral Act and the Independent National Electoral Commission make it necessary for the party to stay on course, particularly with primaries approaching.

Beyond party politics, Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress of major development projects within the FCT. He attributed the steady pace of work to strong leadership support and effective resource management.

The minister specifically credited Bola Tinubu for providing the necessary backing that has enabled the administration to maintain momentum despite broader economic challenges. He added that commitment and efficient use of internally generated revenue have also played a key role in sustaining development efforts.

Wike concluded that with continued support and dedication, the FCT administration would deliver on its infrastructure goals while the PDP remains focused on its political objectives.
