Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Wednesday officially swore in five commissioners approved by the Rivers State House of Assembly to join his new cabinet.
The ceremony took place at Government House Port Harcourt where Governor Fubara commended the Assembly’s screening process as rigorous. He expressed confidence in the ability of the newly appointed commissioners to perform their duties effectively.
“The nominees who successfully passed the process have demonstrated their readiness and understanding of the responsibilities of their offices,” Fubara said, emphasizing his trust that they would serve the best interests of the state.
The five sworn-in commissioners are Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr Peters Nwagor, Lekue Kenneth, and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.
Governor Fubara did not comment on the remaining four nominees who were rejected by the Assembly due to discrepancies related to tax and other matters. The initial list submitted to the Martins Amaewhule-led House of Assembly included nine nominees, of which five were approved.
The appointments mark a key step in the formation of Governor Fubara’s cabinet as he seeks to strengthen governance and service delivery in Rivers State.
