Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has approved the confirmation of 1,659 workers employed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration in 2016 and 2019.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, in Abuja on Sunday.

Ezeh noted that the confirmed workers were among 2,281 candidates who sat for the confirmation examination conducted by the Commission on February 28. A total of 2,512 candidates were invited, but 224 were absent, raising concerns that some could be ghost workers.

The chairman added that some confirmed staff were employed as far back as 2016 and 2019, while others joined the FCTA shortly before Minister Wike assumed office in August 2023.

Ezeh also revealed that the Commission had concluded plans to conduct the 2025 and 2026 staff promotions as approved by the Minister. He emphasized that the actions align with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to renewing hope in the FCTA workforce.

Workers have been advised to visit the Commission’s website, www.fctcsc.abj.gov.ng, to verify the status of their names.
