Former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Christopher Enweremadu, has declared his support for the re election of Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Enweremadu made the declaration during an enlarged political meeting involving members of the All Progressives Congress and other political parties in Isiala Ngwa North on Saturday. At the gathering he also announced his intention to contest for the Abia Central Senatorial District seat in 2027.

Speaking to party members and supporters the former speaker said that despite the economic hardship currently being experienced in Nigeria the president has introduced major policies aimed at ilising the country and strengthening its position among nations.

Enweremadu said the region did not give Tinubu the level of support expected during the last election but expressed confidence that the situation would ce in 2027. He predicted that the president could receive overwhelming support from voters in the state during the next poll.

The former speaker also raised concerns about political marginalisation in the Abia Central Senatorial District. He noted that since Nigeria returned to democratic rule in 1999 the Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area has not produced a senator despite being one of the six local government areas in the district.

Enweremadu who previously served as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs said he would use his experience in governance to attract development to the district if elected to the Senate.

He explained that his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party for the APC was motivated by the desire to ensure that his people benefit from the current political arrangement at the national level.
