Benfica has provisionally suspended five supporters for allegedly making racist remarks during their Champions League first leg loss to Real Madrid on February 17. The match saw Spanish star Vinicius Junior targeted, with the incident causing a 10-minute stoppage.
The Portuguese club confirmed the suspension and cancellation of the supporters’ red passes, noting that disciplinary proceedings are underway, which could lead to expulsion. Benfica emphasized that it does not tolerate discrimination or racism and will take firm action against behavior that undermines the values of the club and sport.
