Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie Face Renewed Scrutiny Amid Epstein File Revelations

London — Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, aged 37 and 35, have found themselves indirectly caught in the latest revelations from the US Department of Justice’s release of the “Epstein files,” which detail extensive communications between their parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, and the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Some references in the documents concern Eugenie’s private life, adding to the embarrassment for the sisters.

Though they hold the “HRH” titles, Beatrice and Eugenie are not working members of the British monarchy and do not represent the Crown in official capacities. Royal commentator Russell Myers noted that the sisters are “deeply distressed” by the disclosures, and while there is no suggestion of wrongdoing on their part, the files have raised questions about how aware they were of Epstein-related matters.

The DOJ documents indicate that Ferguson maintained contact with Epstein even after his 2009 release from prison. Notably, Beatrice and Eugenie joined their mother for a Palm Beach lunch with Epstein five days after his release, with emails suggesting he paid for flights for the trio. Subsequent exchanges show Ferguson discussing business opportunities, and at one point referencing Eugenie’s personal life in a casual, inappropriate manner.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is under renewed scrutiny, with British authorities investigating possible misconduct in public office and breaches of official secrets, stemming from emails suggesting he shared confidential information with Epstein during his time as UK trade envoy. The former prince has denied wrongdoing and previously settled an out-of-court claim related to Epstein.

Beatrice and Eugenie have maintained a low profile amid the revelations, focusing on their families, careers, and charitable work. Beatrice is involved in BY-EQ, a consultancy firm, and philanthropic initiatives like Borne and the Outward Bound Trust. Eugenie directs art dealer Hauser & Wirth and co-founded the Anti-Slavery Collective, among other charitable engagements.

The sisters appear to be distancing themselves from their parents’ controversies. They spent Christmas 2025 with King Charles and the Windsor family at Sandringham, while their father has relocated to Norfolk after leaving the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

King Charles has stripped Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor of titles and honors and has pledged to support British police investigations into his alleged sharing of sensitive material. Myers called the move “a seminal moment,” emphasizing that the former prince is no longer shielded by the institution and public expectations demand accountability.

The unfolding situation underscores the tension between the royal family’s public responsibilities and the private lives of its members, with Beatrice and Eugenie striving to maintain their own identities and reputations amid their parents’ controversies.
