Nigerians have taken to social media to mourn the untimely death of footballer Sabiru Olayinka Adeniji, offering condolences to his family following his tragic passing in the United Kingdom.

Adeniji, a winger for Kings Park Rangers in Halstead, Essex, died in hospital on Friday after being admitted to intensive care on January 25 with a severe brain stem injury. His wife and young daughter, who traveled from Nigeria, arrived too late to be with him before his passing. A fundraising appeal set up to support the family has raised over £16,000 of its £17,000 target, helping cover travel and accommodation expenses.

Fans and friends flooded social media with messages of grief. @aspireduhu wrote, “My condolences to the family. It’s painful seeing a young blood depart. It can’t be our portion… Amen.” @georgeboro1876 added, “R.I.P. too young to leave us. Heart goes out to his wife and daughter.” Close friend @Sarhmkhinhg expressed devastation, stating, “We absolutely lost him… My brother is gone… This is sad… My childhood buddy is no more… I am devastated… Rest on my brother rest on.”
