Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has raised the ex-gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from N699 per litre to N799 per litre. Partner retail outlet MRS will sell the product at N839 per litre, reflecting the updated pricing.
In a statement, the refinery emphasized its ongoing commitment to maintaining market stability and ensuring uninterrupted nationwide supply of petrol. The firm noted that the price adjustment comes after a deliberate temporary price support intervention during the festive season aimed at cushioning Nigerians from heightened household spending.
“This marked the second consecutive festive season in which the Refinery absorbed significant costs in the national interest, including logistics support in 2024 and a price reduction in 2025 to promote affordability and market calm,” the statement said.
Dangote Refinery highlighted that despite previous festive season price reductions, many filling stations failed to pass the benefits to consumers, denying Nigerians the intended relief. The refinery stressed that the current price increase reflects operational realities while remaining focused on ensuring sufficient fuel availability across the country.
The move signals a balancing act between sustaining refinery operations and supporting consumers, amid persistent pressure to stabilize petroleum product prices in Nigeria’s domestic market.
