US Army Prepares Large Athlete Contingent for 2026 Winter Olympics

The United States Army has announced plans to send a substantial contingent of athletes to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics, reinforcing its longstanding tradition of supporting military competitors in elite international sporting events.

Under the Army World Class Athlete Program, dozens of soldiers will represent the United States in a range of winter disciplines including skiing, bobsledding, snowboarding and biathlon. The program aims to provide military athletes with world class training while they continue to serve in the armed forces.

Officials said that the contingent reflects a growing pool of talent within the military and underscores the Army’s commitment to excellence beyond the battlefield. Many of the athletes are national champions and have competed in World Cup events and world championships, bringing valuable experience to the Olympic stage.
