The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has sustained a series of intelligence-driven air interdiction operations across the North-East and North-West, successfully neutralising terrorist elements and degrading their logistics and operational networks.

In a statement, the Director of Public Relations and Information of the NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operations were conducted between January 1 and 2 under Operations HADIN KAI and FASAN YAMMA Sector 2. He explained that the air strikes were based on actionable intelligence on terrorist movements, hideouts, and logistics routes.

According to Ejodame, NAF aircraft in the North-East carried out precision strikes on terrorist enclaves at Abirma and Chiralia within the Timbuktu Triangle. Sustained surveillance had confirmed the presence of facilities linked to improvised explosive device (IED) production and attack planning. The strikes destroyed the targeted structures, with multiple secondary explosions observed, indicating the destruction of explosive stockpiles and logistical assets.

The operations were also extended to the North-West, where NAF aircraft engaged terrorist elements around Karaduwa Giginya Na in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State. The terrorists were tracked moving in large motorcycle convoys and were struck at a forested convergence point. Several fighters were neutralised, multiple motorcycles destroyed, and assorted weapons recovered.

Ejodame said the sustained air operations underscore the NAF’s commitment to supporting ground forces and dismantling terrorist networks nationwide. Although no group has claimed responsibility for recent attacks amid rising security concerns, the military has arrested suspects linked to terrorist activities.

Meanwhile, the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, confirmed that 14 suspects linked to suicide bombing activities were arrested during cordon-and-search operations in the Kalmari area of Maiduguri on December 31.
