Enzo Maresca’s position as Chelsea head coach is becoming increasingly uncertain following the club’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

This result extended Chelsea’s winless run to six Premier League matches, with only one victory in their last seven games, leading to growing frustration among some home fans.

Reports indicate that the negative reaction from supporters could worsen Maresca’s already strained relationship with Chelsea’s owners, casting doubt on his long-term future at the club.

Maresca, who took over from Leicester City in 2024, enjoyed early success by guiding Chelsea to win the Conference League and Club World Cup titles in his first season. However, he has struggled to maintain that momentum in domestic league play this season.

According to The Telegraph, a summer departure for Maresca seems likely, although an earlier exit could happen if results do not improve soon.

Despite the speculation, Maresca has denied any intention to leave Chelsea. After a recent win over Everton, he said, “The last 48 hours has been the worst since I joined the club because many people didn’t support me and the team.”

He also dismissed rumors linking him to Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s potential successor, calling them “100 per cent speculation.” Maresca stressed his commitment to Chelsea, saying, “I said many times, my focus is just about this club and I’m very proud to be here. It’s speculation… I don’t pay attention because I know it’s not true.”

Chelsea currently sit fifth in the Premier League, two points behind fourth-placed Liverpool, and face a crucial match against title contenders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this Sunday. The outcome of this game could be pivotal for Maresca’s future at Stamford Bridge.
