Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has told the Tiv nation worldwide that the real threat to Nigeria is impunity, not diversity.

He made this statement in a goodwill message to the Tiv people on the occasion of the Tiv Cultural Day 2025.

Atiku emphasized that criminal acts should never be allowed to damage the long-standing relationships between communities that have lived together with neighbourliness and respect for centuries.

Speaking amid ongoing attacks and killings in the region, he said, “Our diversity is not a threat; impunity is.”

As a leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku condemned the violence and insecurity, calling for strong and continuous efforts to restore safety and rebuild trust in the area.

He encouraged the Tiv nation to keep working towards unity, peace, and resilience.

“I stand firmly in solidarity with His Royal Majesty, the Tor Tiv, Professor James Iorzua Ayatse, esteemed members of the Tiv Area Traditional Council, and distinguished sons and daughters of the Tiv Nation on this auspicious occasion,” he added.
