Senator Adams Oshiomhole (APC, Edo North) has delivered a spirited endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, particularly lauding its efforts to tackle Nigeria’s persistent security challenges.
Addressing fellow lawmakers during a Senate plenary, the former Edo State governor dismissed criticisms suggesting the President was indifferent to the country’s security woes. Oshiomhole argued that while tangible results may take time, the administration’s intent and actions reflect a genuine commitment to national safety.
“I stand here without hesitation to say President Tinubu is giving his utmost,” Oshiomhole declared. “The absence of instant outcomes doesn’t imply neglect or disinterest.”
He pointed to the National Assembly’s repeated approval of special supplementary budgets aimed at strengthening the military—initiatives he said were initiated by the executive and supported under the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
“These allocations weren’t frivolous,” Oshiomhole emphasized. “They weren’t for luxuries or leisure they were strategic investments to modernize our armed forces, enhance their capabilities, and expand their ranks.”
He further noted that the administration has taken steps to increase military recruitment, underscoring a broader strategy to reinforce national defense.
Oshiomhole’s remarks come amid growing public concern over insecurity across the country. His defense of the Tinubu government served as both a call for patience and a reminder that systemic reforms often require time to yield visible change.
