Associated Press Top 25 college football poll, Georgia climbed to No. 4 following a convincing 35-10 victory over Texas, which subsequently fell to No. 17. This marked the Bulldogs’ sixth straight win, solidifying their ranking.

Oklahoma reentered the top 10 at No. 8 after an upset against Alabama, defeating the Crimson Tide 23-21 and ending their eight-game winning streak; Alabama dropped to No. 10 as a result. The success of Oklahoma’s defense during this game highlighted their potential playoff aspirations.

The top three teams remained consistent for the fifth week: Ohio State at No. 1, Indiana at No. 2, and Texas A&M at No. 3. Ole Miss advanced to No. 5, while Oregon and Texas Tech shared No. 6. Notre Dame held steady at No. 9 after a 22-point win against Pittsburgh.

Furthermore, North Texas made headlines by entering the rankings at No. 22, marking their first Top 25 appearance since 1959. This inclusion increased the representation of Group of Five teams in the rankings to three, alongside James Madison at No. 21 and Tulane at No. 24. The Southeastern Conference (SEC) continued to dominate, boasting nine teams, five of which are situated in the top 10.

Upcoming key matchups include No. 6 Oregon facing No. 16 USC and No. 8 Oklahoma hosting No. 23 Missouri, both of which are anticipated to influence the College Football Playoff race significantly.
