Ijeoma Arodiogbu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman for the South-East, has dismissed talk of a possible alliance between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader Rabiu Kwankwaso.
In an interview, Arodiogbu said he’s confident Kwankwaso will choose to return to the APC rather than join forces with Atiku. His comments come after Atiku publicly celebrated Kwankwaso’s 69th birthday, sparking rumors of a political partnership.
“Kwankwaso is a seasoned politician,” Arodiogbu said. “We believe he’ll make the smart move and come back to the APC. If it happens, it’ll be soon. Many defections are expected before the year ends.”
He firmly rejected the idea of Kwankwaso teaming up with Atiku, saying, “There’s no way Kwankwaso will leave his party to work with Atiku. I don’t see that happening.”
When asked if Atiku could offer Kwankwaso a better deal than President Tinubu, Arodiogbu responded strongly. “Atiku has nothing meaningful to offer. Even Kwankwaso knows that. Atiku’s time in politics is over. Some people don’t know when to stop. Every race has a finish line.”
He added, “Atiku is like someone trying to ride a two-legged horse or a boy drawing a car in the sand and pretending to drive it. He’s not going anywhere. Kwankwaso is smarter than that.”
Arodiogbu’s remarks reflect the APC’s belief that Kwankwaso may soon return to the party, and that any talk of an alliance with Atiku is just speculation.
I think Kwankwaso should team up with Atiku for a stronger opposition.
Kwankwaso and Atiku are both power hungry politicians. We need fresh faces for real change.
