PayPal is changing its approach in the UK and is launching new payment products aimed at people who travel and shop often.

The firm will introduce a debit card that works worldwide with no foreign transaction fees and that earns points like a credit card. PayPal is also expanding its credit services and is launching a loyalty program called “PayPal+” in the UK before any other market.

Members of “PayPal+” will earn points when they pay with PayPal balance, a chosen card, or BNPL options. Tiers run from Blue up to Gold and Black. In higher tiers, points are worth more and members can access “VIP experiences and other exclusive perks”. The company says 1,000 points equals £10 (1 point = 1 pence). Normally customers get one point per £10 spent, but purchases on the new debit card will earn 10x points (10 points per £10).

PayPal will let customers add both physical and virtual PayPal Credit cards. These cards can be used in stores and online and will support buy-now-pay-later options, including ‘Buy in 3’. Card users can also join “PayPal+” and collect rewards.

Diego Scotti commented, “This is the start of an exciting new chapter for PayPal in the UK. We’ve listened to our customers and reimagined our products into one unified solution, offering the smarter way to pay both online and in-stores.”

The changes aim to make PayPal more useful for everyday shopping and travel while linking loyalty, credit, and payment options in one service.
