President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose for his strength and determination during his time in office, especially in the face of political challenges.
In a birthday message marking Fayose’s 65th birthday on November 15, Tinubu reflected on the tough period Fayose faced when his first term was cut short. He said the crisis was caused by “the abuse of presidential powers,” but Fayose stayed strong and calm through it all.
Fayose was removed from office in 2006 after a state of emergency was declared in Ekiti by then-President Olusegun Obasanjo. Tinubu mentioned this moment in his tribute, noting that despite the setback, Fayose made a powerful comeback in 2014, becoming the first politician to defeat two sitting governors in separate elections.
Tinubu described Fayose, also known as Osokomole, as someone who always stands firm in his beliefs. “You always know where he stands. He speaks his mind without fear or favour,” Tinubu said.
He also praised Fayose’s strong connection with everyday people, saying his nickname “Ore Mekunnu” (friend of the poor) truly reflects his style. Tinubu added that Fayose’s time in office brought real improvements, including better roads, more access to healthcare and education, and major projects like the State High Court Complex and a new Governor’s Office.
The message celebrated Fayose not just for his political achievements, but for his courage, honesty, and deep ties to the people.
I dont buy it, Tinubu praising Fayose? Sounds fishy to me…
Fayoses legacy is overrated, Tinubu should focus on more deserving leaders.
I cant believe Tinubu praised Fayose, hes just playing politics!
I dont buy it, Tinubu praising Fayose? Something fishy going on here…
Tinubu and Fayose are politicians, expect the unexpected. Politics makes strange bedfellows.
Tinubu praising Fayose? What a plot twist! Politics is full of surprises.
Interesting, but lets not forget Fayoses controversies. Mixed feelings about his legacy.
