Former Kaduna governor Nasir El‑Rufai has appealed to residents of Zamfara State to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying the party could play an important role in tackling the state’s mounting security and economic problems.
Speaking in Gusau on November 9, the ex‑All Progressives Congress stalwart set out a practical roadmap focused on restoring safety, stabilising the economy and boosting food production across the state.
Addressing ADC supporters, El‑Rufai urged party members to stay united and avoid behaviours that would derail the movement’s progress. He stressed the importance of mobilising youth and women at the grassroots so ADC’s programmes can reach communities directly, and he called on citizens to secure their Permanent Voter’s Cards ahead of the 2027 elections.
ADC officials welcomed the visit. Deputy National Organising Secretary Abubakar Atiku described El‑Rufai’s appearance as a significant lift to efforts at strengthening internal cooperation and stability in Zamfara. State chairman Alhaji Kabiru Garba said the gathering drew young people and women from all 14 local government areas, signaling growing grassroots support.
Local politicians, Islamic scholars and other community stakeholders also attended, publicly endorsing the party’s proposals for improved security, economic recovery and more inclusive governance in the state.
