Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodinma, praised President Bola Tinubu for strengthening Nigeria’s security system and renewing focus on infrastructure and skills.
Uzodinma led a delegation of APC governors to Niger State, where Governor Mohammed Umar Bago hosted the visit. The trip responded to recent floods, tanker explosions, boat accidents and other events that caused deaths, displacement and injuries across the state.
He said, “We commend the president for strengthening the security architecture in Nigeria, his commitment to infrastructure renewal, and his focus on human capacity building.”
The PGF chair called on state governments to match federal efforts and to work with the Tinubu administration to deliver better services and governance. He stressed that the disasters are a shared loss for progressive leaders and that solidarity with the affected people and the Niger State government is essential.
Uzodinma noted that some of the incidents could have been avoided and urged action to prevent repeats. “We are not unaware that some of the incidents are avoidable, but we have seen it as a call for the government and well-wishers to put in place preventive measures, measures that will not enable repeat occurrences of the tragedies that have happened. We feel touched and we condole with the Governor.”
He was accompanied by governors from Lagos, Ekiti, Kogi, Delta and Ebonyi, and by deputy governors from Kebbi, Jigawa and Sokoto. The governor said the forum’s unity, “one for all” guided their response and reinforced the need for joint measures to reduce future risks.
