Alh. Sani Adamu Yarin Fika, a leading member of the Peoples Democratic Party in Yobe State, has left the party and joined the All Progressives Congress, a statement by Mamman Mohammed, Director‑General Press and Media Affairs to the Yobe State Governor, confirmed.

Adamu made the move public at a ceremony in Damaturu. He said he was drawn to the APC by Governor Buni’s focus on developing the state. He added that he will work to support the governor’s agenda.

He also said his backers in the Zone B senatorial district have shifted their loyalty to the APC. “I want you to mark my words, PDP and any other form of opposition in Yobe state is dead”, he declared.

Africa’s recent elections conclude with repression of opposition and contested outcomes.

Alh. Mohammed Gadaka, Yobe state APC chairman, welcomed the defection and called it a major gain for the party. He pledged that Adamu would receive support and be fully included in party activities.

Governor Buni received Adamu and his followers and described their membership as equal to that of all party members. The governor said the switch will strengthen the APC in Potiskum, Zone B and across the state.
