Warner Bros. has officially announced the development of “Gremlins 3,” slated for a theatrical release on November 19, 2027. This marks the first live-action sequel in the beloved franchise in over 30 years. The announcement was revealed by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav during a third-quarter earnings call on November 6, 2025.
Steven Spielberg, who was an executive producer for the original 1984 film, will reprise his role for this new installment. Chris Columbus, the screenwriter of the original “Gremlins,” is set to direct and produce, ensuring a continuity of vision. The screenplay will be co-written by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, known for their work on “Final Destination: Bloodlines.”
The original “Gremlins” introduced audiences to the mischievous Mogwai creatures, combining elements of horror and comedy, which led to the successful sequel “Gremlins 2: The New Batch” in 1990. “Gremlins 3” aims to recapture the original’s essence by blending horror, dark humor, and fantasy, appealing to both long-time fans and new viewers alike. Although specific plot details are still under wraps, the involvement of the original creative team has generated considerable excitement in the fan community.
As the release date approaches, additional information regarding casting and plot developments is anticipated. Fans are eagerly awaiting updates about the return of the iconic Mogwai and the chaotic adventures they are set to unleash, hoping that the film will honor the legacy of the beloved 1980s classics while introducing the franchise to a new generation.
