The Frost School of Music at the University of Miami is at the forefront of revitalizing Miami’s vibrant music scene. This weekend, six talented musicians from the school are set to headline a special concert titled “Havana Harmonies” at The Dead Flamingo at Casa Tiki in Little Havana. The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
Among the performers is Lena Joy, a 19-year-old jazz vocal sophomore and multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter from Los Angeles. Joy describes the Frost School as a supportive, close-knit community that fosters creativity. She has already released some of her own music and is working on more singles and a new album.
The “Havana Harmonies” concert is part of the Frost Music Live series, which features over 100 events each academic year, showcasing a diverse range of musical genres and performances. This series reflects Miami’s unique culture and varied tastes, from classical to jazz and contemporary music.
The concert aims to highlight the impact of the University of Miami’s music school on the local music scene. Students from the Frost School are making waves with live performances, original music releases, and creative collaborations, contributing to the city’s rich musical heritage.
