Paris Saint-Germain () has bolstered its squad with the of French goalkeeper Chevalier from Ligue 1 rivals Lille. The 23-year-old has signed a -year contract with the Parisian club, extending his stay until 2030. The transfer fee is reported to be around €40 million, with potential bonuses bringing the total to €55 million.

Chevalier’s rise in French football has been meteoric. Born in Calais, he joined Lille’s youth academy at the of 11. After a successful loan spell at Valenciennes in Ligue 2 during the 2021-2022 season, where he made 30 appearances, he returned to Lille and quickly established as the first-choice goalkeeper. His were instrumental in Lille’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League, and he was named Ligue 1’s Goalkeeper of the Year for the 2024-2025 season.

PSG’s decision to sign Chevalier aligns with strategic towards integrating young French talent into the squad. Under the guidance of coach Luis Enrique, the club has moved away from the policy of acquiring -profile international stars, focusing instead on nurturing prospects. This approach has already yielded positive results with the integration of like Bradley Barcola and Désiré Doué, who have become key in the team.
