FC Dallas Transfers Luciano Acosta to Fluminense FC in Latest MLS Deal

In a significant move within Major League (MLS), FC Dallas has transferred Argentine midfielder “Lucho” Acosta to club Fluminense FC. The , finalized on 8, 2025, reportedly sees FC Dallas receiving $4 , with additional performance-based add-ons.

Acosta, 31, joined FC Dallas in February 2025 from FC Cincinnati in a landmark trade valued at $5 million, marking one of the largest cash-for- transactions in MLS history.

During his brief tenure in Dallas, he made 21 appearances, scoring goals and providing an assist. Notably, on March 29, he became the seventh player in MLS history to record at least 75 goals and 75 assists with his goal against Sporting Kansas .

Prior to his stint with FC Dallas, Acosta had an illustrious career with FC Cincinnati, where he became the club’s all- in goals and assists, 54 goals and 72 assists since joining in 2021. His exceptional performance earned him the 2023 Landon Donovan MLS Most Valuable Player award and selections to the MLS XI in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Fluminense FC, a prominent team in Brazil’s Série A, is set to benefit from Acosta’s playmaking abilities as they aim to strengthen their midfield. The club recently participated in the 2025 FIFA Club Cup, finishing second in F and the semi-finals.
