Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has expressed optimism that the reign of terror imposed on the state and its surrounding areas by the notorious and wanted bandit leader, Bello Turji, will soon come to an end. Speaking during a recent security briefing, Governor Lawal assured the people of Zamfara that his administration, in collaboration with federal security agencies, is working tirelessly to dismantle Turji’s criminal network and restore peace to the region.
Bello Turji, infamous for leading a violent bandit group responsible for numerous attacks, kidnappings, and killings, has long been a menace in Zamfara and neighboring states. His activities have caused widespread fear and displacement among local communities, significantly disrupting economic activities and daily life in the affected areas. Despite several efforts by past administrations and security forces to neutralize Turji’s operations, his banditry has persisted, contributing to the escalating insecurity in the region.
Governor Lawal, however, remains confident that recent military operations and intelligence-driven strategies are yielding positive results. He noted that with enhanced coordination between the state government and federal forces, including the military, police, and local vigilantes, the days of Turji’s dominance are numbered. Lawal also emphasized the importance of community cooperation, urging residents to provide timely information to security agencies to help track down the bandits.
The governor highlighted his administration’s commitment to not only ending the violence but also rebuilding the affected communities and restoring livelihoods once peace is achieved. He reassured citizens that the government is determined to address both the security and socio-economic challenges created by the prolonged conflict.
