Houston Dynamo FC has officially transferred veteran midfielder Nicolás “Nico” Lodeiro to Club Nacional de Football, his boyhood team in Uruguay. The 36-year-old Uruguayan international returns to Nacional after a distinguished career in Major League Soccer

Lodeiro joined the Dynamo in February 2025 on a one-year contract with a club option for 2026. His final match for the Dynamo was on June 28, 2025, in a 1-0 victory over St. Louis City SC, where he played the last five minutes.

Prior to his stint in Houston, Lodeiro had an impactful eight-year tenure with Seattle Sounders FC from 2016 to 2023. During this period, he was instrumental in the Sounders’ success, helping the team secure two MLS Cup titles in 2016 and 2019, as well as the CONCACAF Champions League title in 2022. In 191 regular-season matches with Seattle, he recorded 41 goals and 80 assists.
