The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that a 50-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel, was killed by a moving train on Tuesday. The tragic incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. near the ARENA Shopping Complex area in Oshodi.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, provided details of the incident on Sunday. According to Mr. Hundeyin, a woman who identified herself as the younger sister of the deceased reported the case to the Mosafejo Police Division later that day, around 1:33 p.m.
She stated that she received a phone call informing her that her elder brother had been struck by a train while walking along the tracks. Responding to the report, a team of detectives visited and photographed the scene for documentation.
The police spokesperson also confirmed that the body was removed from the scene and taken to a public morgue for autopsy procedures.
Mr. Hundeyin further stated that the case has been transferred to the Railway Police Command in Ebute-Metta for a more comprehensive investigation. Authorities are now working to determine the circumstances leading to the tragic accident and ensure proper procedures are followed.
